Cavalier by TL Smith review

Today I’m reviewing this tasty looking book as my first official review of the year! This was my first book by TL Smith, but I’m happy to report that it will hopefully not be my last one.

Blurb:

Welcome to Crimson Elite, the most exclusive sex club in the world.
Enter at your own risk, and always remember our number one rule—
You must never speak of Crimson Elite—the punishment is severe.

Creed ‘Too Hot for Words’ Christopher

If God created the perfect man he would closely resemble Creed, on the outside that is.
He’s as cavalier as they come. Unconcerned. Cold. Dismissive. I wonder if he has any feelings at all.
And when his lips touch mine, everything goes black. He takes me into his world, and it’s the most magical thing I’ve ever experienced.
And I’m sucked in time and time again.
Like a moth to the flame, I am ready to be set alight.

Elicea ‘F*cks With My Head’ Beckham

Elicea is a firecracker. She has piqued my interest, and no one piques my interest anymore.
Beautiful women are what I do—it’s my work.
Not one of them has managed to get their claws into me the way she does. It’s as if she’s seeing my icy heart and trying to melt it, set it alight with each touch of her sinful lips.
But that can’t work, it won’t work.
Not in my world.

 Review:

3.5 Stars

Okay so first all I loved the cover of this book and that each chapter page had the cover has its background! You don’t get to see a lot of page designs I feel like especially with romance books. That may have been the only thing I loved though sadly.

I liked this book don’t get me wrong and will read future books that she has hinted at writing. I just had a few hesitations or problems with it that I wish had been explored or not done as much. It starts out like quite a few romances where they see each other, both think they are attractive and we end up with boy giving girl a job that she needs. Now I was so excited for Elicea’s character in the beginning she had some real sass and being a bartender I could totally sympathize with her, but then as the story went on I felt her get a bit boring.

Creed was a great character for most of the book, I found the idea of the bar and the blurb so interesting. The actual story line wasn’t as hot as I would have liked honestly she could have went deeper into it, because it only went dark as you would from the blurb like once. Creed went soft so fast and then we had some straight up back and forth between the two relationships which at first I didn’t mind, but was a bit over done for me by the end where I was like yall are idiots be adults and lets keep moving on please. Plus one twist at the end was meh for me it wasn’t a needed twist I was liking how they were figuring out things by themselves.

In the end, I did enjoy the book, but it wasn’t as steamy as I was hoping for based on the blurb and cover. It was a nicer romance I think would be great for a fun read and starter romance!
