Frost Blood Review

I’m so excited to review this book for two sole reasons: one, it was a great fast read seriously I read it completely under 6 hours i think. second, elly blake will be at my local comic con this fall so I can get it autographed 0.0

Here is it’s description for anyone unfamiliar:

Seventeen-year-old Ruby is a Fireblood who has concealed her powers of heat and flame from the cruel Frostblood ruling class her entire life. But when her mother is killed trying to protect her, and rebel Frostbloods demand her help to overthrow their bloodthirsty king, she agrees to come out of hiding, desperate to have her revenge.
Despite her unpredictable abilities, Ruby trains with the rebels and the infuriating–yet irresistible–Arcus, who seems to think of her as nothing more than a weapon. But before they can take action, Ruby is captured and forced to compete in the king’s tournaments that pit Fireblood prisoners against Frostblood champions. Now she has only one chance to destroy the maniacal ruler who has taken everything from her–and from the icy young man she has come to love.
Vivid and compelling, Frostblood is the first in an exhilarating series about a world where flame and ice are mortal enemies…but together create a power that could change everything.
Now I loved this story, was it maybe a typical YA fantasy where the main character grows into a strong female and saves the day…maybe but it was done with style and I didn’t find it repetitive or boring in the least bit. You are memorable characters with a compelling backstory for the bad guys. The twists were not all predictable and leaves you wanting to know what will happen in book two.
Ruby was a wonderful character who I loved seeing bickering with Arcus. Their off the wall flirting was adorable and I couldn’t wait to see them realize it. I can’t wait to see her powers grow more in the next story and see her over come the Minax.
Arcus was hilarious and I was devastated when I heard his backstory. The man simply deserves Ruby forever and the only thing in the series to be completed by Elly that has me worried is that it sounds like a love triangle might be coming in book two and I hate those! Why does every author feel the need to try and mess with us like that? Please keep Arcus and Ruby together for real make them a OTP!
